Statement:
"I paint nature since it is an inexhaustible source of inspiration. Since my study in art school in Russia and later my move to the US, particularly Plein air painting helped me stay connected to the traditions of the Russian school of realism. It helped me explore this absolutely beautiful country. Plein air gave me a unique opportunity to find myself and I am happy that I was honored to possess a talent in this field. So my choice is to share my vision of this a wonderful world with people across the borders and generations”

Biography:
Being born in Russia in the suburb of Kazan, the hometown of Nikolai Fechin, Zufar started
taking drawing and painting classes at age nine. He was eleven when he painted his first few
plein air works; depicting nearby village cottages and a horse resting next to a carriage
delivering pies to the local market. He found this kind of painting was so different from painting a still-life or a model in the art school studio. He fell in love with landscape painting and started exploring the language of direct expression of what just in front of him. Hundreds of hours at classes of drawing, painting, composition, sculpture and wood carving gave Zufar an excellent foundation for moving further. After high school, he chose the profession of a physician and dedicated to studying and residency in surgery for over 10 years, after which he decided to move to the United States. His painting, his art kept him afloat in a new country mentally and financially, and he chose to be an artist in his new homeland. His Russian heritage reflects in his paintings and Classical training in art made him an excellent teacher, connecting two great cultures with passion to sincere and real art.
